The Hostellerie Les Frênes is first and foremost a family affair. The adventure began in 1969, when Jacques and Eliane Biancone decided to transform their home into an hotel. Jacques was a contractor specialised in historical buildings and got the idea of building his own hotel after helping to build a great luxury hotel in the “Massif Central” area in the centre of France. This is how Hostellerie Les Frênes was born, first with 8 rooms, which were increased to 12 one year later. The customers of the hotel, being actors of the Theatre’s Festival of Avignon and other travellers, seeking quietude, comfort and luxury in a certain simplicity, insisted more and more to Jacques and Eliane to add a restaurant. The pressure was so strong that in 1979, Restaurant Le Jardin des Frênes was opened. In 1981, the restaurant was rewarded by numerous gastronomic guides and Hostellerie the Frênes also became the "Headquarters" of the actors of the Avignon’s Festival. In the meantime, the Hotel added 8 additional rooms and restored the existing rooms by equipping the bathrooms with a Jacuzzi and massage showers, herewith offering a higher level of comfort and luxury. This is in short, the history of Hostellerie Les Frênes, which today is one of Provence’s best places to stay, and member of the Steinhotels group
